Principal proud to have serviced community

Percy Dickson, after 38 years of teaching, retires.

Kliptown Primary School bid farewell to Percy Dickson who served as principal for 30 years at the school.

A farewell was held for him where parents, pupils, teachers and special guests attended.

Dickson said his whole teaching career was a highlight for him.

“What I achieved was part of delivery.

“If one delivers consistently that is an achievement and I believe I’ve done that,” Dickson said.

He said that he always had a passion for teaching and would not have chosen another profession to go in to.

“Teaching is a way of servicing the community and I believe that a learned community is a disciplined community,” Dickson said.

He appreciated stumbling blocks as it allowed for him to see things from a different perspective.

Dickson, although retired, is looking at completing his LLB degree and can hopefully be of more service to the community.
