SANCA teaches about substance abuse

Parents seek help for their children who are on drugs.

The South African National Council of Alcoholism in Soweto (SANCA) had a substance abuse campaign at Protea Gardens on April 25.

They were giving people information about substance abuse and the dangers of using drugs.

They differentiated all types of drugs and their effects.

People who use substances got a broader understanding of their “addiction” and how to seek help and how to maintain a drug free lifestyle.

“We came here to teach people about substance abuse and the effects that they have.

“We dwell more on the dangers of smoking because many people are addicted to smoking than alcohol and it is dangerous,” said Xolile Mbatha of SANCA Soweto.

Parents whose children are abusing substances also seek help about how they can help them.

There was also a puppet demonstration for children showing them the dangers of smoking.

SANCA focuses on beating substance abuse and for more information on alcohol and drug abuse, you can contact them on 011 984 4017 or go visit them at 827 Elias Motsoaledi Road Rockville.
