Zuma urges churches to pray for peace

President Jacob Zuma encourages for issues with foreign nationals to be resolved through dialogue and not violence.

President Jacob Zuma has asked for all churches in the country to lead the nation in praying for peace and unity, especially during this difficult time of xenophobic violence, taking placing against foreign nationals.

Zuma said that he knows the majority of South Africans believe in peace and unity and that they are not in agreement with the violent attacks on foreign nationals.

“We humbly ask for our religious leaders nationwide to spread a message of peace and friendship to all our people because as South Africans, we have lived in peace with foreign nationals for years.

“We know that most of our people believe in human rights, harmony and the dignity of all who live in our country.

“Let us also not forget that other countries helped us too in the past, in our time of trouble.”

Zuma said that where there are worries and differences, these issues should be resolved should be fixed through dialogue and not violence.
