Crime prevention unit speaks against xenophobia

Police, residents speak in one voice against xenophobia.

The Jabulani Crime Prevention Unit hosted a march to Dorothy Nyembe Park last Thursday to create awareness on xenophobia.

Siyabonga Mahlaba is the chairperson of the unit at the police station and he said their main aim is to make sure that the incident doesn’t take place again in our area.

“The crime prevention unit says ‘no to xenophobia’,we are all Africans, lets treat other Africans equal because we are also foreigners in their countries,” Mahlaba said.

Forming part of their journey to Dorothy Nyembe was a loud speaker hailing their message to the community.

Mahlaba said on their way they had been joined by several residents who shared the same sentiments as the unit.

According to Mahlaba, the jobs that people are complaining about are a worthless excuse because as South Africans we are at most liberty to exploit all the opportunities available in the country.
