Moroka CPF gets its house in order

Patrollers play an important role as they escort some commuters who leave for work in the early hours of the morning and come back late at night.

A meeting was held between the Greater Moroka Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Patrollers.

Purpose of the gathering was for the CPF to update its database of all its community patrollers and to discuss ways of dealing with disciplinary issues among the patrollers.

The two groups also discussed ways on how they can strengthen their community patrols more this winter.

Police’s captain Mpande Khoza said patrollers play an important role as they escort some commuters who leave for work in the early hours of the morning and come back late at night.

He said it is important for other residents to remember that these patrollers are not paid for doing this job, but do it for the love of their communities.

Deputy chairperson of the CPF, Mothusi Moloi said: “We currently have more than fifty patrollers that are active in the Moroka policing area.

As the CPF we are proud to be associated with them as some are now utilised by the Department of Education to safeguard our schools.

“This way they are able to be breadwinners for their families.”
