Baragwanath to host cleaning awareness campaign

Community invited to the first cleaning awareness campaign at Bara.

The community is invited to the first cleaning awareness campaign to be held at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, on April 24.

The campaign which will be spearheaded by the Young Workers Forum (YWF) aims at raising awareness around the cleanliness of the hospital and maintaining it.

Nkosiyethu Mazibuko, public relations officer of Bara (PRO) said, “As April is Chris Hani Month, the former leader of the South African Communist Party (SACP) and chief of staff of Umkhonto weSizwe, he was one of the leaders who not only fought for the liberation of the struggle but also the cleanliness of the hospital.

“He also supported and promoted cleanliness and hygiene in every possible way.”

He said they aim for a litter-free hospital.

“One of the key priorities of the hospital is cleanliness, and therefore the YWF strives to keep the hospital clean.

“These drives are carried out periodically with an aim to prevent diseases by following public health measures along with promoting public awareness towards cleanliness.

“We have cleaners that ensure that the hospital is clean, but it is also the community’s or patients’ responsibility to keep the hospital clean.

“Love Bara, keep it clean,” he said.

The event will last from 10am till 4pm.
