World Vision to leave Orlando after 17 years

World Vision Khuthala moves on to Orange Farm.

World Vision Khuthala Orlando East Project has come to the end of their project which has stretched over a 17 year period.

The project will be moving to Orange Farm to carry on with its community work.

Sibusiso Mabusela, Community Development Facilitator at World Vision said he is pleased with the work that World Vision Khuthala has done in Orlando during the 17 years.

“When we initially started working in Orlando, we used to go out and give the community food parcels. After some time we realised that just giving does not assist the community in any way. We then decided to start engaging more with residents by teaching skills that would sustain them,” he said.

Mabusela said they worked closely with NGOs in the community and also with crèches.

“We have worked closely with schools and crèches to ensure that children get effective early childhood development.

“There is still a lot f work that needs to be done within the community. Unfortunately our time in Orlando East has come to an end. We hope that all the work that we have put in this community will carry on,” he said.

Sanna Ndlovu, ward committee member said that World Vision Khuthala has truly made a difference in the community.

“I have attended several of their workshops and these workshops have helped me in doing my job as ward committee member,” she said.
