We have not sold any content – SABC

SABC slams reports about the selling of 67 titles to MultiChoice.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has slammed reports about the selling of 67 titles to MultiChoice.

Well recognised shows like Skeem Saam, Generations, Muvhango and others were reported to have been packaged for a R30 million deal between the two giants.

Kaizer Kganyago of Group Communications said the SABC has never sold programmes to MultiChoice.

“We have licenced some programmes to them and MultiChoice only has a certain window period in which to broadcast the licensed programmes.

Kganyago said there is a formula used to determine the price tag of a show but said the SABC will not expose its business model to its competitors and therefore will not comment further.

“We have not sold any content to MultiChoice and we are not going to do so in future. We licence to them like we have done for years with them and other broadcasters in the world,” said Kganyago.
