Eskom: the drama continues

Government intervenes to keep the lights on.

The deputy president Cyril Ramaposa has reassured the country that the government is doing everything to solve problems at Eskom.

Ramaphosa has been deployed by the president to oversee processes dealing with problems engulfing the power utility.

He assured the country that the “government processes and structures within Eskom are on a sound footing” working towards stabilising the power utility.

Eskom was plunged in more drama at the beginning of this month following the resignation of the chairman Zola Tsotsi.

The board had earlier raised a resolution of no confidence against him.

Leadership and governance are not the only challenges faced by the power utility, finance is one of them.

Yesterday it was reported that a cash injection expected from the government soon will help a great deal in powering the country.

Meanwhile the power utility has confirmed the reinstatement of fired contract workers who were fired at Medupi power station last week following an unprotected strike.
