Crisis committee revives mandate

Operation Khanyisa Movement underway.

The Soweto Electricity Crisis Committee (SECC) held their Annual General Meeting at Mochochonono Primary School on Saturday.

The general meeting consists of branch leaders from all over Soweto who all would be considered to be elected in the new committee for 2015 and the mandate and plan of action for 2015 was discussed.

Kamohelo Mokoena was elected as the committees new chairperson while Jacob Kganyedi was elected as his deputy and Bobo Makhoba was elected as the organisations secretary.

Other than the Annual General Elections, the meeting turned into a revival of the mandate that the organisation functions on.

Former secretary Danny Mogotsi reminded those who attended that the SECC meeting that the organisation is still embarking on ‘Operation Khanyisa Movement’ (OKM) as their major plan for 2015.

The OKM is a drive initiated by the organisation to educate the public about their right to free basic services including water and electricity.

“The government has made promises to people that they would receive free basic services and we as a movement are here to make sure of that,” Mogotsi said.
