All the openings that people used to pass through the Roodepoort Cemetery during morning, afternoon and in evening have been closed.
This follows reports by police communications officer constable Mzwakhe Xazi that people who crossed via the cemetery were or are at a great risk of being robbed, raped or attacked.
According to James Kunene, a resident, it is a good thing that the ‘dablaps’ have been closed.
“I often saw children passing there on their way from school, it is not safe at all. I am glad that something has been done,” he said.
