Robberies also happen frequently in the veld between Idaho and Alabama Avenues.
A wall was built last year, blocking entrance to the opposite veld and residents have seen a decrease in crime.
“We are now collecting funds from residents to build a wall around the other veld,” Joe Mckenzie said.
They need almost R15 000 for the wall.
“Last week I saw seven robberies take place in the veld.
“We need support from our neighbours to build the wall and reduce crime,” Ragma Maharaj said.
They are appealing to residents and businesses to assist with donations.
Residents are invited to a meeting that will be held on Monday March 23 at the main gate of Florida Primary School to address crime.
