Foreigner set alight in Doornkop

Public violence hits Doornkop, again.

Nine people were arrested yesterday in Doornkop for setting alight a foreign national.

It is alleged that they used a petrol bomb.

Soweto Police communications officer Kay Makhubela said the incident happened after the arrested persons forced the shopkeeper to close shop.

Makhubela said the foreign national sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.

“The people that we arrested are expected to make a court appearance soon,” he said.

In a similar incident in the area, a foreign national was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

He is also expected to appear in court soon.
