Prasa starting cleanup and restoration

The Passenger Railway Agency of South Africa (Prasa) is addressing the conditions of their railway stations in Westbury, Newclare and Bosmont. Restorations will start February 24.

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) is addressing issues highlighted by the community of Bosmont.

On February 18 Prasa along with counsellor Susan Stewart and members of the Bosmont community took a walking tour of the railway from Newclare station to Bosmont. Prasa has now started with the cleanup and restoration of the train tracks and railway station.

The cleanup of the tracks started February 23. Further assessment and planning will be done by Prasa to repair

and replace the fencing that runs alongside the train tracks.

The fence runs from Westbury station through Bosmont up until the N1 highway.

The restoration of the Prasa railway stations and tracks follows a walking tour community members had with representatives of Prasa.

During the walking tour several concerns were highlighted by the community. Loose and exposed wires were shown to the Prasa representative as well as the makeshift playground close to the train tracks. Fences will no be built along side the tracks and at areas where there are broken or damaged fences, they will be repaired.
