Armed robbers arrested

Police pounce on suspected criminals.

Four alleged armed robbers were arrested by members of the National Crime Intelligent Unit together with the Hawks.

The men were detained at the Dobsonville Police Station.

According to communications officer Mzwakhe Xazi, the men are aged 27, 28, 34 and 60 years.

Xazi said the men allegedly committed an armed robbery in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, where they robbed a supermarket.

They took an undisclosed amount of cash on February 2.

“The 28-year-old has a pending case in Jabulani of robbery.

Two of the three men are from Bramfischerville and one is from White City in Jabavu,” said Xazi.

The men were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Silver CZ 75 with one magazine and 10 live 9mm rounds, a black 9mm vector, one empty magazine and five live ammunition.

Xazi says the men will appear at the magistrate court soon.

In another incident, Soweto Flying Squad recovered a white Mitsubishi ASL CL 53 in Bramfischerville Phase One on Thursday, February 19 at about 11pm.

Xazi said the motor vehicle was found parked inside the yard with no person in it.

The motor vehicle was stolen in Turfontein on the very same night.

The hijackers are still at large and no arrests have been made yet.
