SA born director set to direct ‘Aliens’ movie
South African born director Neill Blomkamp is taking Hollywood by storm.
It’s official, Neill Blomkamp will direct the next ‘Aliens’ film.
20th Century Fox confirmed the director of ‘District 9’ and ‘Elysium’ will take on directing duties for the film. Blomkamp made the announcement Wednesday 18, on Instagram.
Aliens will not have any connection with Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ sequel.
Since last year Blomkamp has teased his fans on Instagram with supposed concept art for the Aliens film. He even expressed the desire to cast Sigourney Weaver back in her iconic role of Ellen Ripley. Weaver and Blomkamp are currently working on ‘Chappie’.
According to Hollywood insiders the film is set years after the ‘Prometheus’ sequel and will be produced by Scott and his production company Scott Free.
Blomkamp’s latest film ‘Chappie’ is currently in post-production and stars Die Antwoord’s Yo-landi Visser and Ninja, Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) and Hugh Jackman.
‘Chappie’ is set for release March 4. No release date has been announced for the Aliens sequel.
