Thousands fed at stadium

Many don't know where their next meal will come from.

Gift of the Givers fed around 3000 people on Friday while repairing the broken walls surrounding the Extension Nine Stadium.
“This meal means so much to me because right now, we have no food at home,” Mark Holmes said.
He lives with his wife and six children.
“We will divide the meals so that we can eat twice from it,” said Holmes.
Emily Thomas from Gift of the Givers said the organisation wants to boost the morale in the community.
“Just by looking at the line of people, we can see how many unemployed youth are in our community. We are here to uplift them,” Thomas said.
Councillor Michelle Valentine said she was almost brought to tears when and elderly lady expressed her gratitude for the meal.
“The lady said she didn’t know where her next meal would come from, this was the only meal she had for today,” Valentine said.
She appreciates the work done by the organisation and said it is empowering for the community.
Gift of the Givers is also uplifting the stadium for the betterment of the community.
“We want the community to feel part of it, it is amazing to see how a community can take part in a project and look after it,” Thomas said.
Almost 1000 children also received biscuits.
