Somali shop owner granted bail

Sheik Yusuf is more likely to be charged with culpable homicide than murder.

Sheik Yusuf has been finally granted bail by the Protea Magistrates Court after the state has done its investigations.

The investigation confirmed that Yusuf is in the country legally and has never went back to Somalia since he came to South Africa.

He was granted a R2000 fixed bail on grounds that his case is more likely to be culpable homicide than murder.

His bail conditions state that he has to report to Brixton Police Station every Monday between 6am and 6pm and make sure that he doesn’t miss any of his court hearings.

Yusuf will remain in custody until he pays his bail and will appear again in court on March 11.

Yusuf was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed a teenage boy who was among the group of people who tried to rob his store.
