Protea Glen Senior Secondary scoops awards

School makes it into top ten in District 14.

After achieving a pass rate of 94% which is an improvement from the 82% obtained in 2013, Protea Glen Secondary School scooped some top awards.

PGSS is ranked number 10 in the top ten schools in District 14.

The school which opened in 2009 and catered for Grades One to Eight had its first matric class in 2013 and managed to get the Johannesburg Central District Academic Excellence Award, Top Achieving School Circuit 4 Award and the Significant Improvement in Pass Rate Award.

The Johannesburg Central District Academic Excellence Award seems to be rotating around Protea as it was first won by Tetelo Secondary School in 2011, it then moved to Daliwonga Secondary School in 2012, went back to Tetelo in 2013 and now in 2014 it has been scooped by Protea Glen Secondary School.

Joseph Mabaso, principal of the school is happy with school’s performance.

“I will be happier if we obtain a 100% pass rate this year.”
