Pupil suspected of torching classrooms, still suspended

Processes to decide the pupil's future still underway.

The future of a 15-year-old pupil who is alleged to have set alight two classes at Emshukantambo High School is still uncertain as the school together with the school governing body are yet to take a decision.

The pupil who cannot be named because of his age was suspended this week after he was accused of holding teachers hostage in the school’s office and torching two classrooms.

A hearing to determine a way forward and take a decision about the boy’s future was schedule to take place yesterday on Thursday.

According to the school’s headmaster Steve Nemakhavhani the hearing was held yesterday but they did not conclude the matter.

He said he was not in the position to reveal to the media as to what transpired in the hearing and what was the outcome at this stage.

“I can confirm to you that the hearing was held yesterday but I cannot divulge any information at this stage since the matter has not been concluded.”

Until the school governing body together with the school have found a way forward the pupil remains suspended.

The principal promised to release a formal statement once a resolution has been reached.
