130 new cars for Gauteng police

Moroka Police Station given four new cars to better service delivery.

A total of 130 new police cars have been distributed among various police stations in Gauteng to help in improve service delivery.

This means that 55 police stations will be benefiting from this distribution in the province.

According to the National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega, this initiative will help the police to reach crime scenes quicker and will aid in fighting crime.

Phiyega said that they have ordered 5 009 cars for the current financial year, and to date 3 894 cars had been received.

Out of that number 1 080 cars have been allocated for Gauteng and about 70 percent of those cars had already been received by the police stations.

The remaining amount will be handed over at the end of next month.

Communications officer at the Moroka Police Station, captain Mpande Khoza said: “We are happy that we were one of the stations to be selected to get new cars.

“We received four cars last week and are happy as this means service will be quicker for our people.”
