Looting spreads to other parts of Gauteng areas

Police blame the youth for instigating looting in Soweto.

The Gauteng Commissioner held a media briefing this morning at Moroka Police Station where they were analysing the looting of foreign shops in Soweto.

The looting which started on Wednesday has now gotten out of hand and has spread to other parts of Gauteng such as Kagiso, Diepsloot and Sebokeng.

Gauteng Police commissioner, Lesitja Mothima said that it was the youth who instigated the looting of foreign owned shops and questions of unemployment risen that is it poverty that made people to steal from the foreign shop owners or they are just reacting to the Snake Park incident?

Mothima also comfirmed that they are working hard as the police to resolve the matter and they hope that it doesn’t proceed to the weekend.

Meanwhile, 44 people have been arrested since the looting started and will appear in court today and most of them happen to be the youth.
