Eskom says high usage may lead to outages

No load shedding this week.

Eskom warns against the possibility of another round of rotational load shedding as the power utility expressed its difficulty in generating sufficient power.

Operations manager Robbie van Heerden notes that the two make factors that affect the generation of power is the acquisition of coal and diesel which is used for electrical generation.

Van Heerden also adds that the power utility ends up resorting to load shedding as a response to strait experienced by the national power grid and as means to avoid a national blackout.

Going forward, the Chief Executive officer Tshidiso Matona assures that the utility is working on expanding their diesel acquisition channels in order to supply more power plants and make a substantial contribution to the national grid.

Eskom adds that their bid to generate energy is a collaborative effort that includes efforts by the country to save energy so as to prolong the circulation of electricity.

In the case of the power grid experiencing substantial pressure, the power utility will have no choice but to load shed.

The advance load shedding schedule posted by Eskom warns in the case of high pressure constrains Zola, Jabulani, Zondi Emndeni, Tladi and Naledi will experience power outages on the weekend of January 24 and 25 from 6am till 10:30am.

In the case of high pressure constrains Meadowlands, Orlando Jabavu, Protea and Chiawelo with all extentions may experience load shedding on January 27 from 6pm till 10:30 pm and on the weekend of January 31 and February 1 between 6 and 10:30pm.

Protea Glen may experience load shedding on January 28 between 2pm and 6pm and February 2 between 6 and 10:30pm.

Dobsonville may experience load shedding on the weekend of January 24 and 25 from 6 till 10:30 am and on January 29 from 10 am till 2:30pm.
