During an operation held by police over the weekend, three people were arrested for assaulting police.
“We will not tolerate such behaviour from certain residents, they will be arrested,” captain Phillemon Khorombi said.
While attempting to arrest perpetrators, the suspects interfered with police, trying to stop them from making any arrests.
“We strongly condemn these actions, the community and police are supposed to work together for a peaceful community,” said Khorombi.
He said that while police have established a good relationship with organisations in the community, residents should work with police in apprehending criminals.
“Crime doesn’t discriminate, anybody can be a victim including those who interfere with police work,” Khorombi said.
Depending on the means of attack against police they may be required to use maximum force.
