Future looks bright for Namedi’s top pupil

Olebogeng hopes to study at Wits or UJ.

Olebogeng Matola (19) of Diepkloof zone four from Namedi Secondary School obtained two distinctions and a university entrance.

He was the top pupil at the school for the class of 2014 and got 83% for both physical science and life science.

“Although I was aiming for four distinctions, I am happy with my two distinctions,” said the excited Matola.

Matola also obtained 74% for maths.

He says that studying for exams was a bit stressful because he had a lot to study in a short space of time.

“I had to study, concentrate and relax, especially when writing my major subjects.

“My main problem was studying at home, because it was very noisy and I couldn’t concentrate so I used to go to school whenever I needed to study,” said Matola.

He said: “Everybody was very supportive at home even though my parents live in Mafikeng, but they used to call me now and then.

“I applied at Wits and the University of Johannesburg for chemical engineering as my first choice career, mechanical engineering as my second choice career and medicine as my third choice.”
