Motorists still refuse to pay e-toll bills

SANRAL fails to get motorists to pay their e-toll bills.

After one year since the installation of electronic tolling, Gauteng motorists still refuse to pay their e-toll bills.

With many people that travelled this past festive season, thousands of them still haven’t paid e-toll bills.

Solomon Mbata, who is also opposing e-tolls, said that with only 10 trips he took, he received a letter from SANRAL stating that he owes R611.07 for e-tolls and he said that he shall not pay.

“This is just day light robbery, e-tolls were made to steal money from us and we refuse to be robbed like this in our own country,” said Mbata.

The Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance said that it will continue to fight against e-tolls and said that it’s a good thing that many motorists also support them.

While SANRAL had a target that 93% of e-toll bills would be paid since they were installed, only 35% bills were paid.
