Advice for failed matrics

The Class of 2014 are anxiously waiting for their results tomorrow.

The Gauteng Department of Education would like to advise parents of pupils who might not perform as well as they would have liked, to monitor their children’s reaction to negative results and provide support to them.

Department spokesperson, Phumla Sekhonyane said parents should make sure that their children know that they have their unconditional love and support even when they have not lived up to their expectation.

She said: “It is important for our pupils to know that there are many successful people in the world who started their adult life by failing matric and that giving up is never an option.

“These pupils should go to their school tomorrow and find out how they can register for supplementary examinations if they qualify.

“For those who would require to rewrite matric, they can either re-register at their old school or get advice at an ABET centre closest to where they stay.”
