The Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo hosted a night vigil to commemorate the life of the late former president, Nelson Mandela last week.
This event was held at the Thokoza Park, to honour the first anniversary since the passing of Tata Madiba.
During the ceremony, managing director of Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, Bulumko Nelana unveiled a monumental structure that was built to celebrate the father of the nation.
After that, residents who were present took part in a candle light service in remembrance of the 16 Days of Activism that affects many communities daily.
The lighting rite aimed at encouraging those affected by abuse to report it and to urge men to stop violence against women and children.
