Taxi strike leaves pupils stranded

Some Grade 11 pupils missed their exams because of the taxi strike.

The Gauteng taxi strike which occurred yesterday left at lot of taxi commuters stranded.

Commuters had to find other means of transport and for some, it wasn’t an easy thing to do.

In Protea Glen, some pupils were affected and missed their exams due to lack of transport to go to school.

Nomfundo Hlabeni, a Grade 11 pupil in Senaoane Secondary School said that she missed an exam because of the taxi strike but teachers have assured a re-exam.

“I was supposed to write but I didn’t because I live far from school and I only use a taxi to go to school.

“My teachers understand the situation as I am not the only one and they promised to give us another chance to write the exam,” said Hlabeni.

Senaoane Secondary School could not be reached for comment.

Protea Secondary School teachers have confirmed that all the pupils who were writing yesterday came to school and the strike didn’t affect their examinations.
