MEC calls for community to work with police

Society urged to help do right by Meyiwa by giving police information in pursuit of his killers.

The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, expressed her shock about the brutal killing of Orlando Pirates Football Club and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa and urges communities to come forward with information regarding his killers.

Nkosi-Malobane says the country is in mourning.

“His brutal murder has robbed us of a good sportsman and it comes in the wake when the province is in the process of re-engineering its crime fighting strategy; The Gauteng Safety Strategy,” she said.

She said: “I am sure no stone will be left unturned in the criminal justice system to bring perpetrators to book.”

Nkosi-Malobane says police alone cannot win the battle against crime but working closely with communities they can make great strides in rooting out criminal activities in society.

“I appeal to anyone with information to come forward. Our sincere condolences to his family, friends and the Orlando Pirates football team,” said the MEC.
