Remembering Valdene

School honours Valdene Jacobs.

Eldorado Park Senior Secondary School on Thursday held a memorial service for slain pupil Valdene Jacobs.

She will be remembered by her teachers and fellow pupils as sweet and humble.

“Valdene was beautiful inside and out, she was sweet, very humble and always added sparkle,” Shaheda Frazenburg, a teacher said.

Speakers said that Jacobs’ death should not be in vain.

“She may not live to see her dreams come true but her death has brought an entire community together.

“That’s a legacy,” a pastor said.

Marlon Louw, principal of the school said the murder of Jacobs was selfish.

“Through selfishness a mother lost a daughter, a grandparent lost a grand-daughter, a school lost a pupil and a community lost someone who could have been a leader,” Louw said.

He encouraged people to, in future, not be selfish rather selfless.

“Stop being selfish, if we spread love we can’t be selfish,” said Louw.

Grade 11 E rendered songs and poems in memory of Jacobs.
