Rea Vaya bus drivers’ strike affects commuters

Rea Vaya commuters to receive regular updates on the bus strike as it currently continues.

Director of marketing and communications for Transport City of Joburg, Benny Makgoga said the City wishes to inform residents and passengers that there is a disruption of Rea Vaya services due to labour action by bus drivers for services that are operated by Pioneer Transport (Piotrans).

Buses servicing the T1 along Soweto Highway, C1 from Dobsonville to Ellispark, C3 for the inner City and Braamfontein as well as feeder routes from Naledi, Protea Glen, Jabavu, Mofolo and Eldorado Park are among the services affected.

He said T3 from Thokoza Park to Library Gardens Via Auckland Park, C2 Indingilza to UJ Soweto, C4 to Cresta, C5 to Florida North as well as feeder routes, F6 Lea Glen to Bosmont, F7 Fleurhof/Amalgam to Bosmont, F8 Westbury to Greymont, F9 Mapetla to Thokoza Park, F10 Lakeview to Pimville, F11Yeoville to Library Gardens and F12 Parktown to Library Gardens are fully operational and are not affected by the strike.

Makgoga said Piotrans Management is addressing the situation.

“Passengers are advised to use alternative transport and Rea Vaya will be able to provide feedback at appropriate times,” he said.

He said: “The City of Johannesburg apologies to its passengers and will provide updates on the situation.”
