Murder suspect denied bail

Suspect allegedly handed himself in at the Eldorado Park Police Station.

The murder suspect who allegedly stabbed 19-year-old Valdene Jacobs on Saturday was granted no bail after appearing in the Protea Magistrates Court on Monday.

“He showed no remorse, he had a cold look on his face,” Valerie Jacobs a relative of Valdene said.

She said that a case of murder and kidnapping has been opened.

Valdene was killed on Saturday morning when the suspect allegedly  grabbed her and forced her to go home with him.

According to Valdenes’ mother, people watched as the man sat on and stabbed her daughter but nobody helped.

She said that Valdene left her then boyfriend because he was abusive.

“They weren’t dating for long when they broke up.

“She even moved to my mother and blocked him on whatsapp to avoid him,” Melanie Jacobs said.

Valdene was rushed to the fire department in Freedom Park where she was declared dead.

The suspect allegedly claimed that if he can’t be in a relationship with Valdene, nobody can.

“He was obsessed with Valdene, he planned to kill her,” Valerie claims.

The suspect will re-appear in court on October 29.
