Fighting hunger and promoting safe environment

WESSA supports 15 Eco-schools in Dobsonville to give pupils knowledge.

On October 16, a vegetable tunnel was installed at Ithembelihle Primary School by representatives from Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) as part of poverty alleviation programme.

20 Grade Three pupils, the principal, Nedbank volunteers and some few residents took part in this initiative.

Together they planted spinach in the vegetable tunnel.

According to education officer Zanele Khumalo, fifteen schools from Dobsonville have been adopted.

The sum is made up of 13 primary and two high schools.

Khumalo said the aim is to participate and to contribute to the theme on World Food Day of ‘Alleviate Poverty’.

Khumalo supports 15 eco-schools in Dobsonville through capacity building workshops, meetings and outdoor lessons for pupils to improve and empower their environments.
