A girl (12) from Naledi was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 23-year-old who has been arrested after the police were made aware of the incident.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says the girl had been sent by her mother to the shops and after noticing that the girl had been gone for too long, the mother went to look for her daughter.
Her attempt was fruitless and resulted in her going to the police station to open a missing persons report, but she later heard a witness say her daughter was seen being taken into a house in the area.
After receiving this information, the police went looking for her and she was found.
According to Makhubela the victim has been taken to a doctor and has received some counselling.
The perpetrator is being kept in police custody pending his appearance in court today.
