Water interruptions in Joburg today

Water tanks to be situated at affected areas for water supply.

There was an electricity problem at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station and that caused interruptions to the water supply.

“Randwater has fixed their power problem, but the reservoirs [fed by the pump station] were so dry and still have to fill up,” said spokeswoman Millicent Kabwe.

“Johannesburg Water, would like to inform residents fed by Crown Gardens, Waterfall, Linden and Quellerina towers, Hursthill and Honeydew reservoirs of the water shortages currently experienced in some areas.”

Residents in these areas who did have water supply were asked to use it sparingly to give the reservoirs a chance to fill up.

Water tanks would be placed in the affected areas as a temporary measure.

The tanks would be placed at:

> Coronationville Hospital

> Corner of Rifle Range and Limerick streets, Crown Gardens

> Shoprite on the corner of Gibson and Edward Streets, Sophiatown

> Woolworths on the corner of 14th Avenue and Weltevreden Road, Quellerina

> Spar on the corner of Bergbron Drive and Gordon Road, Bergbron

> Corner Woodgreen and Angela Baltimore Streets, Winchester Hills

> Campus Square corner Kingsway Avenue and Main Road, Auckland Park.

Johannesburg Water apologised for the inconvenience caused.
