March for violence against children

Residents are sick and tired of crime against children.

The Noordgesig Youth Forum, together with the Noordgesig Community Development Foundation (NCDF),  registered NPO’s will be having  Child Protection Awareness  Day on September 24.

There will be a peaceful march throughout Noordgesig spreading the word that residents have had enough of violence and crime against children.

“Many children are dying due to violence and crime in our country and we have realised that something needs to be done to protect our children. In so doing we have seen the importance of creating awareness on how to protect our children and also for children to understand and know how to look out for dangers in and around their communities,” said organiser Bruce Malgas.

He added that the organisations also want to empower people with the knowledge on how to report crimes and how to become involved with the local police in becoming not just their ears and eyes, but also to really take part in the policing of their communities.

There will be various workshops and entertainment and the handing over of  memorandum to the head of police.

“We want to bring back the understanding of how important our children  are to both this country’s future and the inheritance that we need to keep and in keeping our children  safe our future will look much brighter,” he said.
