63 arrested for various crimes in Pimville

To curb the spread of crime, Kliptown Police made a lot of arrests this past weekend.

63 people were arrested for different crimes this past weekend.

According to Kliptown police, spokesperson, Constable Thuli Ngwenya, 25 people were arrested for possession of drugs.

“The number of people arrested for possession of drugs is alarming. We urge residents to work with the police so that we curb the spread of possession of drugs in our community,” she said.

Ngwenya said nine people were arrested for drunken driving and five people were arrested for dealing with illegal alcohol.

“Five people were arrested for common assault. Four people were arrested for possession of stolen property,” Ngwenya said.

She said three people were arrested for assault with grievous bodily harm and two people were arrested for being drunk in public.

“Two people were arrested for possession of dangerous weapons and two were arrested for robbery, while one person was arrested for business robbery and another for theft.

She said one person was arrested for an attempted business robbery and one was arrested for being an undocumented resident.
