Wanted suspect nabbed

The suspect allegedly pointed a gun at police.

A wanted suspect was caught by police on Thursday morning after they received complaints from the community.

“Residents have been complaining that the suspect intimidates them with a firearm,” Captain Phillemon Khorombi said.

When police arrived on the scene, the suspect fled and they chased him.

“The suspect tried to jump over a palisade fence (at Nancefield Primary School) but a policeman grabbed his pants. The suspect then took out a firearm and pointed it at our officer,” Khorombi said.

A policeman shot the suspect.

Witnesses say they did not see the suspect point a gun at the police.

A knife was also found on the suspect and it was later found that the gun that was allegedly pointed at the police was a fake gun.

“The suspect was wanted for various crimes and we believe that he used these weapons to commit crimes,” Khorombi said.

He said that the community shouldn’t shield suspects but rather alert police.

The suspect is in hospital under police guard.
