SANCA’s plea

SANCA Meadowlands branch expands its services to reach the community.

The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drugs (SANCA) Meadowlands branch is expanding its services to reach the whole community and they’re involving the community doing it.

The non-profit organisation concerns itself with matters pertaining to the use and misuse of alcohol and drugs.

A prevention and treatment centre whose objectives are prevention, early intervention, after care, diversion, community development and treatment of alcohol and drug dependence.

The objectives are met through awareness campaigns, basic training on substance abuse, exhibitions and dialogue talks for community.

The demand of the services rendered by the centre is at a peak because of its success within the community but their current facility is unable to cater to the numbers that come in for assistance due to limited space.

“We’re urgently appealing to the Meadowlands community at large to assist us in finding a vacant space within the area, with a minimum of four rooms,” said Siphamandla Luvalo, a social worker at the centre.

The organisation is also calling on qualified and suitable persons interested in serving on the board of management of SANCA Soweto to submit their resume to the director no later than September 12.
