Eight mall robberies in the past 22 days

Leads being followed, but no arrests have been made in cases of mall robberies.

Gauteng Police say that even though no arrests have been made, different leads are being followed after a spike in Gauteng mall robberies.

Maponya Mall is amongst the targeted malls as two crimes happened in a space of two days earlier this week.

It is alleged that four armed men stormed the Pick n Pay and took off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The latest incidence was yesterday as the World Wear Shopping Centre on the West Rand was targeted.

It is also alleged that eight gunmen robbed the Timberland store in Fairlands.

Kliptown police, spokesperson, constable Thuli Ngwenya said that these malls are targeted because it is closer to the festive season and criminals want to make easy cash.
