More bodies retrieved at Power Park
Three months later, Power Park still a metal thief's paradise.
Since the collapse of Orlando Power Station building in June, three more bodies have been retrieved at Power Park.
According to Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela the bodies were discovered by security working in the area.
“An inquest docket has been opened for the three bodies that were discovered. The rubble that still remains in the area is being removed and it is possible that more bodies could be retrieved,” said Makhubela.
The site has become a goldmine for cable thieves.
According to ward 30 councillor Sechaba Khumalo, metal is being stolen on the site on a daily.
“We have put more security on site and we have started removing the rubble,” said Khumalo.
He also said that unemployment has a huge factor on the stealing of metal.
