Police accused of mistreating couple

Dobsonville police to be under the microscope.

A couple is accusing some of Dobsonville’s police officers of mishandling and failing to help them with a situation involving their child.

Deborah Seleke (mother) is accusing her son of using nyaope and committing crime.

She said her son broke into her house stealing a home theatre system, IDs, bank cards, SASSA card, clothes, bag of CDs and certificates.

Seleke said the lock was broken and the door damaged.

A case was opened at the Dobsonville Police Station.

“Police were called including forensic experts for fingerprints and the results of the tests came back positive as confirmed by the detective in charge of the case,” she said.

Seleke said her fingerprints including those of her husband were taken to compare with those found on the scene.

“The forensic results proved that my son was the culprit,” she said.

“After a short while the detective who handled the case told us that the case was dropped because there was no eye witness.”

Seleke said she feels cheated.

Dobsonville SAPS communications officer, constable Mzwakhe Xazi said an inquiry will be launched to gather facts connected with this particular case.

Xazi said it is important for people to be serviced accordingly for the station to be reliable.

He did not comment any further on the matter but said the investigation will define the end results.
