Higher education facilities to be increased

The government is looking at establishing additional community colleges across the country.

With more people seeking to complete their matric or enhance their skills in the hope of finding employment, the government has come to the party, saying they are now considering creating more higher education facilities.

According to Blade Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education and Training, these community colleges will be created around the country and aim of this initiative is to provide support for those people that are not in any post schooling environment.

Nzimande said at present, about 300 000 people are currently integrated in the South African Public Adult Learning Centres.

He said: “We are working at ensuring that these community colleges are grouped together in clusters of adult learning centres so we can help in strengthening infrastructure, staff and programmes at these centres.”
