AfriSam to uplift 20 SMMEs

Successful businesses will contribute to job creation.

On May 20, AfriSam launched a Business Development Centre to grow SMMEs by training and creating business opportunities by including them in AfriSam’s database.

The centre renders an advisory service to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in Roodekrans, Eikenhof and Roodepoort.

AfriSam’s enterprise development professional, Lungile Mlotshwa said walk in SMMEs requiring business advice will be assisted in different aspects of their businesses, including but not limited to, bookkeeping assistance, compiling business profiles and compliance issues.

Out of these SMMEs, Mlotshwa said 20 suppliers will be selected to be put on Accelerated Programme where they will receive more involved training through institutions like Monash University or FET colleges and also receive mentorship and coaching.

These 20 suppliers will be included into AfriSam’s supply chain as vendors.

Mlotshwa said there isn’t a specific type of entities that will get assistance and advice.

The expectations of the development and training are to see suppliers run efficient and sustainable businesses that will not only render services to AfriSam but also other companies.

“These sustainable, successful businesses will contribute to job creation,” said Mlotshwa.

“This is the first group of suppliers for the Accelerated Programme; the programme will be ongoing,” said Mlotshwa.
