Rape on the rise in Pimville

Residents called to assist in helping with investigation.

After different cases of rape were reported at the Kliptown police, the increase in rape cases in the township is a huge concern.

According to Kliptown police spokesperson, Thuli Ngwenya, another case of attempted rape was opened at the station.

“An attempted rape case was opened after an armed suspect, charged on his victim on Chris Hani Road, last Saturday. This is one of many cases being reported and this abuse on women in our communities has to stop,” she said.

Ngwenya said the suspect was arrested and appeared at the Protea Court today.

Ngwenta urges all victims that have been attacked in the same vicinity, to assist in the investigation.
