21 Days of Yellow Care

Investing in the community.

Employees of MTN took to the streets through their ‘21 days of yellow care’ initiative, to invest in communities by donating their skills, time and money to helping pupils that are less fortunate.

Some of the workers visited Dr Beyers Naude Secondary School yesterday, to donate a compujector and screen, a mobile library with books of science, maths and technology, stationery, uniforms and repair some of the infrastructure in honour of youth month.

According to manager of special projects at the MTN SA Foundation ,Judy Maluleke, from June 1 to June 21 as MTN employees, they have been going out and making a difference in schools in need.

She said: “During this period, we have been using company time to volunteer in places where our assistance in needed by sharing our skills and donating resources to invest in better education for all. “This initiative is taking place in all provinces and globally in communities we serve. In Gauteng, 15 schools that are really battling in technology and education supplies were identified and we have pledged to improve these schools so our pupils in the township can compete with pupils in other parts of the world.”

Maluleke said they hope that this will be an annual event.

Pupils also enjoyed demonstrations of interactive lessons they will be able to participate in from the compujector and these were conducted by Schalk Coetzee.

School principal, Linda Zabala said: “We are excited about what is happening as this will help to restore the dignity and confidence of our pupils. Now nothing can stand in the way of them reaching their fullest potential.”
