Residents march to councillor's house

Residents promise to burn councillor's house.

Residents from Mapetla and Mapetla Extension marched last Friday night to their councillor’s house and complained about lack of service delivery in their area.

Residents complained about electricity cut offs in their area, the councillor not being available when needed, damaged street lights and some claimed that he is rude and not willing to help.

In showing their anger, residents burned tyres and threw stones at his house and threatened to burn his home.

Moroka Police Station communications officer John Serala said: “As soon as we received the tip off, we acted quickly and protected the councillor. On our arrival on the scene we found residents with petrol bombs, carrying sticks and stones and we managed to disperse them and no one was arrested and we will monitor the area.”
