Garden project launches at Moses Kotane Primary

Teachers and pupils to benefit from veggie garden.

Global Environmental Protection is an organisation that works to promote environmental conservation.

It was founded last year.

Currently, the organisation is busy with a vegetable garden project which was launched for the first time at Moses Kotane Primary School, Bramfischerville.

Vegetables planted include cabbage, carrots, spinach, green pepper, beetroot, herbs and others.

Chairperson Celani Ndimande said agriculture plays a vital role by keeping people in good health through the food planted.

Ndimande said it is important for people to do farming or start a food garden initiative to feed their families and to sell to make a living.

“The organisation not only aims to create a health and environment awareness in the community but it is here to urge people to stand up for themselves,” he said.

“There are plenty of opportunities but people are not willing to do the work.”

Ndimande said they usually run seminars to educate people about starting their own businesses.
