Suspect sought for rape

Police ask for help in catching a suspect.

The Moroka police are on the hunt for a man who has allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl.

According to the Moroka Police Communications Officer, Constable John Serala, the suspect approached the girl who was on her way home recently.

He then asked the victim where she was going and after she responded that she was on her way home, the accused strangled the girl.

Serala says: “The two struggled and the man dragged the girl to an empty building where he threatened the girl with a knife. In attempting to fight for herself, the teenager then hit the man on the head with a rock and he bled, which angered him.
“He then reacted by hitting the girl with his fist on her face and kicked her on the stomach and proceeded to take off her clothes and raped her.”

The man is said to be a black South African citizen who is dark in complexion, about 28-years-old and 1,78 meters in height.

In appearance the suspect is medium built, has a moustache and was wearing a black denim jacket which looked dirty.

He also had a black hat on, spoke Zulu and was carrying a knife.

Serala says if anyone sees this man, they should call Investigating Officer, Constable Thuso Molefe of the Family, Violence, Children Protection and Sexual Offence Unit on 079 490 9364.

They can use case number 457/05/2014 as their reference.
